Appointments

During your orthodontic treatment, you’ll typically come to visit your orthodontist once every four to ten weeks. Our goal is to minimize the inconvenience of these appointments as we realize that some of these visits may interfere with your work, school, or activity schedules. To do so, we’ve established the following scheduling guidelines.

Adjustment Appointments

During our shorter appointments, we’ll make technical adjustments to your braces. Most of our patients will schedule these appointments at various times during the day. However, we always save additional hours before and after school hours so that we can maximize these times for the most possible patients. These appointments will sometimes occur during work or school hours and, if needed, we’re glad to provide you with a written excuse slip.

Longer Appointments

We classify longer appointments as those that are 40 minutes or longer. These will be scheduled in the later morning and early afternoon. This will allow us the ability to see more patients who can make it before or after school or work. Appointments such as placing and removing braces will be scheduled during school hours so that your orthodontist can provide a more focused amount of care while also reducing scheduling difficulties for daily shorter appointments.

Keeping Your Treatment on Schedule

To make sure that your treatment is progressing as planned, we recommend that you follow these bits of advice:

Keep your regular appointments.

Maintain good oral hygiene.

Watch what you eat.

Wear rubber bands or orthodontic appliances as directed.

Be careful with your appliances.

Follow through with any recommend treatments or referrals by your orthodontist.

Appointment Reminders

To remind our patients of their upcoming appointments, we give out courtesy emails and/or text messages two days before the scheduled appointment.

Emergencies

Thankfully, actual orthodontic emergencies are rare; most orthodontic problems consist of a broken wire or bracket that can be handled by simply scheduling a repair appointment or even just by waiting until your next regular visit. Please contact us as soon as possible though with your problem so that we can help determine what the appropriate course of action will be. Also, please take a look at our Emergencies page to see if a temporary solution is offered on our website.
